Rhetoric at Aylsham High
We are very proud of our focus on rhetoric across our curriculum in the English department. We strongly believe that it is our job to help students to discern the truth when listening to the news, to a speaker, or when reading online.
To help them become discerning citizens, who can listen and debate effectively, we teach students to:
- recognise, understand and use rhetorical devices - devise, structure and deliver a speech - construct, expand and present an argument
Rhetoric across the curriculum We expose students to rhetoric at all levels of the curriculum:
Henry V 'Once more unto the breach' Aristotle's ENDPRP structure Pathos, ethos and logos Debate on most influential period of language and literature change
