In which war did Wilfred Owen lose his life?

MAIN COURSE

Find an example of the following poetic techniques and explain its effect in your chosen poem.

For example:
Wilfred Owen uses sibilance and consonance in his poem 'Exposure,' to describe the weather on the battlefield: "iced east winds.'
The hard 's' sound of 'iced' and 'east' along with the consonance of the final 't' sound of each word creates a harsh and sharp noise that evokes the feeling of the cold wind; the sound makes me remember the feeling of being in an icy gale and how painful it is. The soldiers having to sit in these conditions while 'nothing happens' is cruel and unnecessary.

Your turn:

Simile
Half-rhyme
The sonnet form
